Understand Your Child's Cognitive Growth
Upload a video of your child playing or interacting with a caregiver. Get insights into what developmental behaviors are happening and what they mean for your child's cognitive development — from motor milestones that build problem-solving skills to caregiver interactions that spark language growth.

About This Project
Research Foundation
This project is inspired by recent advances in using AI to analyze caregiver-child interactions from video. In particular, the HARMONI framework published in Science Advances (2024) demonstrated that AI-powered 3D analysis of observational videos can capture meaningful patterns in how caregivers and children interact — patterns that relate to developmental outcomes.
Research shows that the way a child moves, explores, and interacts with their caregiver provides important signals about cognitive development. Motor milestones like reaching, grasping, and crawling are not just physical achievements — they reflect and support the growth of problem-solving, spatial reasoning, and social cognition. Similarly, the quality of caregiver engagement (responsiveness, scaffolding, verbal interaction) has been shown to directly influence language development and executive function.
DevWatch brings these research insights to parents by using Google Gemini's multimodal AI to actually watch and analyze video of caregiver-child interactions, then translating what it observes into plain-language developmental insights.

What This Tool Does
DevWatch uses AI to actually watch a video of a child interacting with a caregiver and gives you a detailed summary of what it observes and what it means for your child's development. It looks at four key areas:
Movement & Motor Skills
Is your child reaching, crawling, grasping, walking, or hitting other movement milestones?
Caregiver Engagement
How is the adult interacting? Are they talking, holding, playing, or encouraging the child?
Safety Awareness
Are there any visible safety concerns in the environment or interaction?
Learning Support
Is the caregiver helping the child learn something new, like guiding them through a task?
This tool provides observations only — it does not diagnose or replace professional guidance. Always consult a pediatrician for developmental concerns.
